NvVerse reactivates Nvshu, the world’s only gendered writing system, through a modular poetic and typographic framework that invites co-authorship and reclaims erased female voices. The project bridges intangible heritage and graphic design as a feminist recovery, situating Nvshu not as a relic but as a living semiotic system capable of generating new voices.
The NvVerse artist’s book employs a spiral-bound modular structure inspired by linguistic permutation and feminist semiotics, three interlocking panels as poetic fragments rooted in reconstructed female scripts. As readers flip through, they generate combinatory verses, forming thousands of potential poems. Each panel integrates Nvshu typography, illustration, and translation, transforming reading into tactile participation and nonlinear meaning-making.
